Punctuation Practice

The same sentence, written several ways. Only one is punctuated correctly: can your child spot it? Apostrophes, commas, speech marks and capital letters, the exact marks SATs and 11+ English papers test. Instant feedback and an explanation for every one.

What does this practise? (a quick guide for parents)

Punctuation marks are tiny, so mistakes hide easily. This trainer makes children compare nearly identical sentences, which is exactly the skill test questions reward. It covers:

  • Apostrophes: belonging (the dog's bowl), contractions (didn't), and the its/it's trap.
  • Commas: lists, fronted adverbials, and clauses.
  • Speech marks: where the comma, capital and question mark go.
  • Capitals and endings: names, places, days, and choosing . ? or !

Encourage your child to read each option aloud in their head: punctuation is easier to hear than to see.
